Positive Related Education.
An African American Male Youth Leadership & Development Program.
It is an African American Male Youth Development Program. P.R.E. is an acronym for Positive Related Education. This program is for African American male 13 -21 years of age. The purpose of this program is to provide positive related education to prepare these students for post-high school decisions and post-secondary college preparation. P.R.E.
It does not place emphasis on fear or failure but provides positive tools to create success and support for the growth of our society.
America confronts a gender imbalance in the African American Community. African American women are earning bachelor's degrees at an extraordinary pace, while African American men had the lowest rate for obtaining bachelor degrees during 1976-2006 (NCES, 2009). In 2008, 9.8% of African Americans earned a bachelor's degree; 66% were African American women, and 34% were African American men (NCES, 2009). Higher education improves the employment rate. The African American race is the only race in America, with men having lower employment rates than women. African American women continue to excel in education, employment, and salary earnings. African American men continue to suffer in the labor market due to a low level of educational attainment.
My research study was an opportunity to understand the differences between African American male and female students. The research indicated that the difference between the African American female and male students were educational preparation, role models, and self-determination theory, which included self-image, self-confidence, and self-motivation. I would like the opportunity to develop your child in this extraordinary program. Let's discuss the implementation of the P.R.E. program at your site. This program can improve the future of our African American male students and build a strong community.
